The second I discovered my favourite author had released a sequel in the Robert Hunter series, I clicked ‘add to cart’ quicker than a cayote.
Number 9 in the series, Gallery of the Dead, follows our favourite crime-fighting duo, Detectives Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia, as they uncover a killer so prolific that even the FBI have been trying to track him for months.
They call the killer in question ‘The Artist’ as he appears to leave his crime scenes as works of art, but there’s more to this killer than meets the eye.
In this fast-paced sequel, Hunter and Garcia team up with the FBI to track down a serial killer that knows no geographical boundaries. Garcia is particularly witty and sarcastic and a different side to Hunter is revealed as a love interest starts to develop between him and a professor of psychology. If you’re a Carter fan, this novel is an absolute must-read. Honestly? It probably falls in my top 3 from the series and it’s action-packed, tension building and full of the gruesome details we’ve come to know and love Carter for.
Packed with dramatic twists, Carter is the king of misleading, and one particular jaw-dropping twist will have you at the edge of your seat. True to form, the ending reveals yet another twist and hints at another sequel Carter fans in particular will be excited about. I already can’t wait to read the next addition.
If you’ve never read Carter before, it’s not essential that you’ve read the previous novels in the series, but I highly recommend checking out the rest of the books too as they’re just as gripping.
If you’re looking for a novel you won’t be able to put down with suspense, Gallery of the Dead should be top of your list.
