January is a weird time for beauty trends. Do we continue with the sparkly holiday makeup? Is it time to start transitioning into fresh spring makeup? WHO EVEN KNOWS. It's kind of like a weird intermittent stage where I guess we can kind of put what the hell we want on our faces. All of those new products you got for Christmas and treated yourself to in the January sales will come into good use and allow you to experiment with some fresh looks for 2019. Here's a few of my favourite products I've been loving all throughout the Christmas period and going into the New Year!
1. Violet voss hash tag palette
The new Violet Voss palette is such a versatile palette. You can create everyday looks with Sauce in the crease, G.O.A.T to define the outer V and Fresh or even FOMO on the lid for a bit of shimmer. On the other hand, you've got a row of vibrant purples and plenty of shimmer options for a glam look, and of course the quality of shadows doesn't disappoint. More to the point, any palette with a pigmented black gets a double thumbs up from me.
2. Too faced unicorn tears bronzer and highlighter
First of all, the packaging? A plus. And secondly, it smells like damn chocolate. But don't lick it. It goes weird in the pan. Not that I'd know...
But seriously, this bronzer has a slight shimmer that warms up your face and blends effortlessly to create a healthy glow our skin is often deprived of when the weather turns bleak. The highlight shade looks pretty on the lid or inner corners as well as leaving a soft lavender glow on your cheeks. Winter is perfect for experimenting with cool-toned highlighters - save the warm tones for the sunkissed summer look.

3. Maybelline master chrome (sandstone shimmer)
Jeeeeeeesus, talk about BLINDING. Not only is this bad boy affordable, blendable and pigmented, it comes in a range of shades to suit a wide variety of skin tones. This is probably the most blinding highlighter in my collection at the moment, and that really is saying something. I probably wouldn't wear this on a day-to-day basis, unless I'm really trying to blind someone, but it has become my ultimate go-to evening/event highlighter.
4. Revolution jewel collection jelly highlighter (monumental)
I'm sensing a bit of a highlighting theme? But I just had to include this on my list of favourites. This jelly highlighter underneath the Maybelline Master Chrome is literal magic. If you're after a highlighter that leaves your skin looking wet, this product is an absolute must and boosts any powder highlighter on top. And as a plus, it's only £3 at Superdrug.com!
5. Neutrogena hydro boost water gel cleanser
While I usually have quite oily skin, the cold weather has really dried out my skin this year. I tried this cleanser on recommendation from a friend and now, I'm never going back. This water gel leaves my skin feeling hydrated without feeling greasy and the fresh scent immediately makes me feel more awake. I use this when I take my makeup off of an evening and before I apply makeup as a primer to ensure I've got a smooth base before painting on the layers. And as a bonus, Neutrogena is so affordable and doesn't break my skin out. Winner winner.
6. Nyx liquid suede (soft spoken)
I'm a traitor to the liquid lip. Whilst I love that they last all day, I hated the dry, crumbly feeling they left on my lips. I started experimenting with old-school lip-sticks and tinted glosses and eventually came to the Nyx Liquid Suede, the absolute dream of lip creams. It's pigmented, comfortable to wear and long-lasting! I genuinely don't know how they do it. Don't get me wrong, if you kiss someone or have a drink then it will definitely leave a mark, but the majority will stay put on your lips. This plum-nude is perfect for my skin-tone and is a little more interesting than just a basic nude. I'll definitely be investing in more shades in the future.
