The £8 Jo Malone Dupe!
For those of you who don't know, Jo Malone is a luxury brand from London that offers everything from cologne to candles, creams and oils. For the ultimate luxury scent experience, Jo Malone has been around since 1999 to provide unique, long-lasting fragrances. Now let's talk prices. The Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir cologne retails for an astounding £88 for 100ml on the official website and £44 for a 33ml bottle. You can get the price of a 100ml bottle down to around £60 in the duty free, but if you're not willing to pay the extravagant prices, there is another way. Primark to the rescue!
The Pomegranate and Black Tea collection from Primark initially caught my senses in the Liverpool store as my sister sprayed herself with every scent available. "Oh my god, WHAT does that smell like?" she exclaimed as she nabbed a bottle from the shelves for me. And I have to say, the scents are extremely similar: almost identical. And the similarities don't stop at the scents and names. The Jo Malone website describes the Pomegranate Noir cologne to have "the sensuality of a daring red dress". On the box of the Primark Pomegranate and Black Tea Room Spray, the scent is described as "the equivalent of a daring red dress". Coincidence much? Both scents are described to be a blend of fruity juices mixed with woody winter spices to create a sophisticated scent.
In the Primark range, the Pomegranate and Black Tea hand wash is available for £4, the room spray for £6 and the fragrance for £8. Unfortunately, in the Liverpool store, they were all out of the fragrances and so I settled for the room spray which I will be using as a perfume. Even the minimalist black and white packaging somewhat resembles the sophistication of the Jo Malone brand.
Jo Malone is available in store at John Lewis, House of Fraser and in their own stores (the closest to me being Chester). It is also available online, which I'll link below, but the Primark dupe is only available in stores, so if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to a luxury fragrance, check out the Primark shelves before they sell out!
